 It was a remarkable Conradi piece in the unparalleled collection of Germany's Ruediger Deutsch that led to this inspired bit of magical theater. A spectator's ring appeared, inexplicably, on a tied loop of ribbon suspended from a hoop! But the Conradi effect, however wonderful, had a serious flaw. The ring that appeared was not, in fact, the spectator's. A switch was necessary. It was good, even brilliant, but it was not enough for Collectors Workshop. One morning, as the mist of the Shenendoah Valley lifted from the field surrounding Collector's Workshop, our chief illusion builder, John Good, raised his arms in triumph, secure in the know l­edge that the challenge had been met: 

“A borrowed ring vanishes. Then, as the performer stands well back from the action, that same ring visibly reappears on a tied loop of ribbon suspended from a golden hoop”.
